First ever Singapore India Hackathon
BVCOE New Delhi: From India, an 83-member delegation visited Singapore for the first ever Singapore India Hackathon. Dr Dharmender Saini, Principal BVCOE mentored a team of Shiwangi Kochar, Naman Gupta and Deveesh Mendiratta, CSE students and received appreciation certificate at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met teams of the first India-Singapore Hackathon, a platform for the youth of the two countries to harness and showcase their innovations.

There was overwhelmed response and 118 donors participated in camp. Bharati Hospital Staff and NSS Volunteers after the successful conduct of Blood Donation Camp. A two days workshop by well known Tabla and Sitar maestro Pt. Nayan Ghosh was organized by BVDU School of Performing Arts, Pune. On the first day Pt. Nayan Ghosh gave history and evolution of Tabla, explained various Gharanas in Tabla along with their special features, also taught various gats to Students. On the second day he explained history of Sitar along with how this particular instrument got developed. He also demonstrated Gayaki and Tantrakari styles on Sitar. He also taught and explained aesthetics in presenting Raga in Indian Classical Music.

Vaishnavi Sonawane, student of department of Information Technology, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering for Women, Pune-43 has been declared Winner of “SEED IT Idol”. She is awarded with certificate, smartphone, power bank and gift vouchers. The competition was based on the knowledge of C programming and computer fundamentals. Prof. Dr. H. V. Dept. of Oral Medicine & Dental Radiology organized a CDE programme on Lasers on 7th March, 2018 & received huge response from ours as well as from other Dental Institutes. There were motivating lectures by our eminent speaker Dr. Vikram Khare followed by a Live Demonstration and hands on for the use of soft tissue Lasers by the participants.
National Conference on “Architectural Lighting"
Architectural Lighting is a core subject for the course and we have formed Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) student’s chapter in the college to promote industry institute interaction. Till now Lighting is taken merely as fixing a Bulb or a Tube Light, just to have Illumination for activities. In recent years, another dimension Energy Efficiency has been attached to Lighting. With technology advancement such as LED and others in the field, there is a need of formal education on various aspects of Lighting. Architectural Lighting is a core subject for the course and we have formed Indian Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE) student’s chapter in the college to promote industry institute interaction. Till now Lighting is taken merely as fixing a Bulb or a Tube Light, just to have Illumination for activities. In recent years, another dimension Energy Efficiency has been attached to Lighting. With technology advancement such as LED and others in the field, there is a need of formal education on various aspects of Lighting. Workshop : Basic Life Support, First Aid and Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice
Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar and Dr. Rajshekhar Halli, organized a one day hands-on workshop on Basic Life Support, First Aid and Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice on 24th February, 2018, for the nursing staff and ancillaries. The programme was of great success and was attended by all the nursing staff. The session also provided with first-hand knowledge about life support, CPR in mannequins and management of emergencies.
NSS Health Check-up Camp : DCH Pune
The NSS unit along with the Department of Public Health Dentistry had organized a Dental Awareness and Check up camp on 22nd February, 2018, at Chatrapati Shivaji Vidyamandir and Jr. College, Kanhe Phata. The camp was coordinated by Dr.Santosh Jadhav, Dr.Amol Jamkhande and Dr.Darshan Hiremutt. Interns from Dept of Public Health Dentistry gave Health Education and conducted the dental checkups of the children of 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th standards.
Research-based Symposium : "IGNITE" : DCH Pune
Department of Pediatric Dentistry, BVDU Dental College & Hospital, Pune organized research based symposium ‘IGNITE’, which received a huge response gathering around 120 registrations. There were motivating lectures by eminent representatives of NCL, AIIMS and 3M Division, followed by brain-storming question and answer sessions. Invited guest speakers were Dr. Magesh (Senior Scientist, NCL, Pune), D. B.L.V. Prasad (Senior Scientist, NCL, Pune), Dr. Vijay Mathur (Professor, AIIMS, Delhi) and Senior Research Officer (3M Division).

On 26th January 2018 at 9.30 am to 1.30 pm “Fire Volunteers Program” was been organized by FSAI Pune chapter in association with fire brigade department PMC, Pune. This program was organized for the student members of FSAI of BVCOEW Pune and BVCOE Lavale. Free Preventive Treatment Program
The Department of Public Health Dentistry conducted a free preventive treatment program for the students of PMC School, Chandrabhaga Nagar, Katraj, Pune. Topical fluoride application, pit & fissure sealant application & oral prophylaxis were the procedures carried out. 24 students were present for this program. Free toothpaste samples were distributed to the children by our Principal Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar. This program was part of the birthday celebration of our Hon’ble Founder, Chancellor Dr. Patangraoji Kadam and Hon’ble Secretary Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam.

Department of Periodontology, Dental College and Hospital, Pune, conducted a CDE Programme on 30th January 2018. The topic of CDE was ‘Advances in Implant Dentistry’. On occasion of World Cancer Day on 4th February 2018, the Department of Public Health Dentistry had organized a Cancer & Anti Tobacco Awareness program rally at Happy Streets, Aundh, Pune. Dr Amol Jamkhande and the interns of Dept. of P.H.D., alongwith Dr. Chetan Bhat from Dept of Pediatric Dentistry, participated in the event. Dr. Sachin S. During the campaign more than 17,000 greeting cards and 500 chocolates were distributed at 20 major traffic signals in Pune. The cards included new year wishes and contents for promoting awareness about Road Safety and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
